Pfizer chooses Ledidi Core to utilize health data from the clinic for clinical audit at scale

A co-developed the Breast Cancer Toolkit for efficient data capture in a clinical setting

The Challenge

In the healthcare industry, there is a pressing need to effectively leverage health data collected in clinics for secondary uses such as clinical audit. However, various obstacles, such as interoperability issues, data silos, and privacy concerns, hinder the seamless utilization of this valuable data.

As with many other healthcare organizations, clinical audit was put forward as a prioritized task by the National Health Services (NHS) in the UK. As a result, Pfizer UK is on a mission to explore new initiatives supporting healthcare professionals in clinical auditing.

Solution: Acceleration of data collection and analysis with Ledidi Core

To tackle this challenge head-on, Pfizer chose to adopt the Ledidi Core platform. As part of the project, the Breast clinical audit toolkit, a predefined template of a breast cancer register designed to enhance the management and analysis of breast cancer patient data, was developed.

The template contains variables related to demographics, type of breast cancer and staging, diagnostic factors, treatments received, blood values and cancer markers, control visits and adverse events. The template comes with ready-made forms designed for efficient data capture in a clinical setting.

By continually collecting and analyzing these data, healthcare professionals can gain valuable insights into various factors that influence prognosis and survival in breast cancer patients. This empowers clinicians to explore new avenues for improving treatment strategies, prognosis accuracy, and overall patient care.

Impact

The collaboration between Pfizer and Ledidi using Ledidi Core resulted in:

  • Improved data quality: Ledidi Core enabled Pfizer to seamlessly integrate and harmonize disparate health data sources. This streamlined the process of gathering structured data from clinics, breaking down silos, and ensuring data interoperability. As a result, Pfizer gets access to more and better data, fit for analytics.

  • Advanced Data Analytics: With built-in statistical modeling function in Ledidi Core, Pfizer gained access to powerful analytical tools, empowering their researchers to extract valuable insights in real-time. This led to enhanced understanding of disease patterns, treatment outcomes, and patient profiles.

  • Enhanced Data Privacy and Security: With Ledidi’s unique Confidential Computing technology and strict compliance with recognized standards such as ISO (hyperlink), clinicians can collaborate on shared datasets without exposing the primary patient data in violation of privacy laws and regulations.

  • Accelerated Research and Development: Ledidi Core facilitated faster and more efficient research and development processes at Pfizer. By providing a versatile and secure environment for collaborative research, the solution accelerated the discovery of new therapeutic interventions and improved patient care.
